Azalea Street
Azalea Street Redevelopment Project
The Azalea Street Neighborhood was identified as the most blighted community in Hinesville. The existing neighborhood is characterized by longstanding residents with low to moderate income. Over time, many homes have been abandoned and become havens for vagrancy, prostitution, and illegal drug activity. Many of the aging residents have lived a large portion of their lives in this neighborhood and wish to remain despite the challenges.
In an effort to revitalize the area, the City of Hinesville, Hinesville Downtown Development Authority with the assistance of the US Housing Urban Development Agency and the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) implemented the Azalea Street Redevelopment Project. The project is currently underway with seven single family homes and twelve townhomes completed. Single family homes are available for purchase through the Georgia Dream Homeownership Program.
Azalea Place Townhomes
Twelve townhomes have been completed with eight 2-bedroom townhomes and four 3-bedroom townhomes. The townhomes are available for those who qualify as first time homebuyers. Income restrictions and other qualifications must be met to standard of the City of Hinesville and other applicable programs.
